Mobimedia International signs agreement to provide music streaming technology to Idea Cellular

27 October 2016 (Mumbai): Mobimedia International has signed a groundbreaking agreement with Idea Cellular to provide a fully managed music streaming solution to India’s third largest telecommunications carrier.

Mobimedia International’s rapid expansion across South East Asia has seen the company enter Myanmar, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in 2016 alone, bringing its footprint to 33 markets globally. The digital entertainment and technology company has honed its expertise delivering revenue accretive solutions to carriers in developing and emerging markets, making it the ideal partner for Idea Cellular’s first foray into music streaming.

With revenue in excess of $5 billion; a market share of nearly 18.2% (as on Q4FY15); and a subscriber base of over 165 million, Idea Cellular is one of the top three mobile operators in the Indian market and the sixth largest operator in the world.

Mobimedia International will provide a fully integrated approach to Idea Cellular including app and UX development; technical integration; brand and marketing; monetisation and billing; big data insights; real-time aggregation and content management. The services will be housed under the umbrella of Idea Cellular’s existing brand architecture and will be the first of the Mobimedia product range being delivered to the Indian market, preceding social app Matchstix, as well as virtual reality & video-on-demand application, Vuer.

The partnership marks Mobimedia International’s entry into India, with David van Herwaarde, CEO commenting, “Mobimedia International’s mission is to help carriers deliver captivating content and marketing campaigns to connect people and brands. Idea Cellular is due to launch its music streaming service by the end of 2016.
